The first regular bottling of an older Talisker™. Time has rounded not tamed its power.

    90
    Color
    Deep gold
    Nose
    Vanilla, toffee, sweet flowers
    Body
    Full, ever so slightly oily
    Palate
Initially warm fruit, then vanilla and toffee, pepper, subtly peaty; like burning wood
    Finish
Long and pleasant, the finish releases some spice; autumn fruit and cinnamon

Very lovely, balanced whisky, which for me contains all the elements that make a good Single Malt: smokiness, fruit, vanilla and an overall warm sensation. It reminds me of a campfire by the seaside on a warm night in summer.

    90
    Color
    Medium gold amber.
    Nose
    Fruity vanilla, sweetly floral.
    Body
Thick, oily, buttery, almost insulating on the tounge.
    Palate
Sweet fruit and flowers, peppery (but less than the 10 year), faintly metallic. The vanilla from the nosing is lost on the palate. The smoke is distant.
    Finish
Very tingly, medium hot, very long. Definite mellowing of time.

Talisker served with velvet gloves. Though this is excellent and provides a longer, more complex finish, I think I prefer the 10 year on all other counts.

    90
    Color
    Amber, tinge of rose
    Nose
Smoke, soy sauce, cinnamon, orange peel
    Body
Oily and viscous. Expands to fill the mouth.
    Palate
Big hit of smoky bacon, sour on the tongue, orange marmalade, creme brulee
    Finish
Medium finish. Tobacco with peanuts. Burnt sugar.

Like having a smoky bacon and Seville orange marmalade sandwich. Delicious
