A malt that dares to be truly oaky. Thank heavens for boldness and individuality in a world where blandness is always an easier option. This beautiful old distillery is Chivas showpiece, but it is more than a pretty face.

- Color
- Gold, Dark Amber, Red - Orange
- Nose
- Vanilla, Butterscotch, Honey, Citrus, and Mild Oak undertones splashed with a very subtle hint of Peat.
- Body
- Full, Silky, Lightly creamy.
- Palate
- Very sweet, Sugary, the Butterscotch is very prominent and comes to dominate strongly, not to be outdone by the crisp twang of Honey. The Oak undertones fade into a strange yet welcome Chocolate brush. Perhaps even traces of walnut or almond. Very satisfying.
- Finish
- Inordinately smooth. Deceptively so. Once swallowed one would hardly surmise that any alcohol has been consumed. However, after a slight pause of about 2 - 3 seconds, the warmth begins to trickle down into the stomach and pleasantly lingers. One of the most complex and drawn out finishes I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing in a Scotch.
This is an excellent Whiskey. Although one flavor seems to dominate the nose and the palate, this is not something to be viewed as a negative. It is a very distinct experience to have the nose match up so perfectly with the palate. Absolute pleasure to drink. Enjoy!

It took me by surprise by being very much like a well balanced Islay with some extra wood. Well balanced and easy.
