Springbank 100 Proof
Review by ColoradoDram
- Color
- Very light caramel.
- Nose
- Buttery shoe polish, yellow raisins, aging flowers in water, wet leather. Very nice!
- Body
- Thin and light.
- Palate
- A sweet honey and flower bouquet, opens the salivary glands with a peppery honey combination. Peaty, but without so much campfire smoke.
- Finish
- Very warm (though not burning hot), very long, peppery, inviting. Amazingly little youth attack for a 10 year that is essentially cask strength.
This is a notch above the regular 10 year, even if a little less grassy and fresh. An excellent reason to dive into Campbeltown.

- Color
- Pale gold.
- Nose
- Slightly floral with a hint of grass and citrus fruitiness.
- Body
- Thin and light.
- Palate
- Interesting blend of salty with a hint of honey sweetness. Puts me somehow in mind of Chinese foods that have a thicker sauce. Also traces of fruit, especially orange and grapefruit.
- Finish
- Surprisingly smooth for such a high proof, but still has a bit of a bite to it. There's an almost gentle peppery taste as well as a buttery sweetness.
A beautiful array of flavors. This one might be harder to identify in a blind taste test than some of my other favorites, but it is definitely a joy to drink.
