- Color
- caramel - it has caramel in it :)
- Nose
- very fruity, mince pie smells, oak sweetness, mild lemon undertones
- Body
- smooth, medium bodied, some have even said watery. it's not watery, but definitely not an oily dram.
- Palate
- ripe fruit, a lot of oak, subtle but noticeable bitter undertones, oak fruit clashes with the whisky underneath
- Finish
- quick primary finish but then another background finish persists, a subtle bitter flavour with dry oak. sudden initial finish makes the whisky taste less complex.
Not a bad whisky, but certainly not a great one either. The finish is quick although there are slightly bitter undertones and oak flavours which linger. The french oak adds a slightly odd mince-pie dimension to the fruit and clashes somewhat. It is a little too much like a dessert whisky for my taste.
