    Color
    Buttered-toast gold
    Nose
Strong peat and sea-salt, with wet sawdust and woodsmoke.
    Body
    Medium, grainy, and nicely dry.
    Palate
Peat, toasted bread, salt, pencil lead, fig, faint lemon curd, and an undercurrent of alcohol.
    Finish
Timed at 45 seconds. Very good, mellow, and throat-coating.

This is one of my favorite whiskies. I like the earthiness and non-prissy imperfection of it. It tastes like what a working stiff in an Islay pub would drink. Great, manly whisky.

    Color
    Mdium Straw
    Nose
Leads with a touch of sea salt riding atop smoked peat. Earthy loam aroma follows and traces of nuts and caramel.
    Body
Medium-bodied, light on the palate, with a faint oiliness that is very flattering. It doesn't coat the tongue as much as brush it.
    Palate
Caramel, almonds, mushrooms, and leather predominating. Faint hint of petroleum (not off-putting) and a mineral tang.
    Finish
Timed out as 25 seconds; respectable.

There are a lot worse ways to spend your limited bux in the Scotch world. If you keep your expectations reasonable, you'll probably enjoy this a lot.
