    The Macallan Cask Strength

    Color
A beautiful sherry amber to this Scotch.
    Nose
Aromatically complete! A complexe nose of the most mouth watering. Dates and dried fruit and notes of fruitcake are the main traits found here. There are obvious butterscotch, cream, vanilla, toffee notes mixed in with allspice, cardamom and cloves. There is a rather subtle smokiness. Also a slight fishy, seaness to it which is not unpleasant.
    Body
    A heavyweight in body.
    Palate
The attack is sweet. The syrupy texture rapidly coats the tongue and the spice kicks in rapidly. The backend is hot with notes of black pepper and a slightly resinous bitterness, sappy.
    Finish
The flavors linger well beyond 30 seconds.

Cask Strength is the way to go with The Macallan.

    Color
    Deep, dark amber
    Nose
Dark maple syrup, walnuts, butterscotch, toffee, coffee…What a nose! Makes your mouth water.
    Body
    Full bodied.
    Palate
This is a delectably smooth approach to malt. Rich, smooth, mellow, full and savoury, the nose follows through nicely. Hot and spicy and lengthy.
    Finish
The finish will go on 20-30 seconds undetered.

Seeking something scrumptious? Indulge yourself with a gorgeous bottle of this fine Scotch.

    Color
The robe is dark sherry, with brownish tints. Wood.
    Nose
A fruity and spicy nose. Smells actually quite like a dessert. Hints of vanilla, root beer, candied cinnamon, dried plum, dark maple. I could go on for pages this nose is so complex and layered.
    Body
    The body is silky rich.
    Palate
The attack is immediate and intense. Hot and spicy, it reminds me of the small, hard candy red fish my grandma used to eat that tasted of candied cinnamon. Many things are happening as I taste this. There is a certain oaky, toasted taste as it hits the midpalate.
    Finish
The back end is hot spicy, smoky, sweet tingly and slightly bitter at the tail end. The end is tremendously long. Adding a drop of water brings out the typical single malt aroma, less potent and more fruity. The maple is still rather obvious.

(Batch 28)This is a superior malt. I recommend this to any and every dead serious malt conoisseurs, and all those seeking new horizons and barriers to transgress.

    Body
Beautiful viscosity ’causing it to tear, nice legs.

    Color
    Bronze.
    Nose
On the nose, smoke is prominent. There are hints of smoked bacon and maple. The smoke is that of a campire, and hot embers with a hint of sweetness.
    Body
    A full bodied big boy!
    Palate
The mouthfeel is decadent. It is rich and creamy and sweet on the very tip of the tongue. On the mid-palate, its complexities develop into dry leaves, fresh ashes, tobacco, clove and black and white pepper.
    Finish
The finish is lengthy and warm… “Takes out the fire, but leaves in the warmth.”

Right off the bat, this bottle seduced me with its beautiful bronze robe. The elegance is obvious and luxurious.

    Color
The color is a pale, translucent gold.
    Nose
Superb nose! Fruity, fruity, fruity! Exotic fruit essences, candied malt and some spritziness (iodine) and subtle smokiness.
    Body
    This is a medium-bodied malt.
    Palate
The mouth reflects the nose. Fruity and not overly fat, but smooth. Definitely spicy on the back-end and slightly oaky.
    Finish
    Length is not its strength.

"...the most complex aroma of any malt." (NOT!)

    Color
This one has an orangy, gold hue to it and its oiliness is apparent around the edges.
    Nose
Maybe the color is affecting my judgement, but there are citrus notes on the nose. Some smokiness is blended beautifully with the malty sweetness. There is a fresh apple fruity component in there as well. Maybe even candied apple. Very complex.
    Body
Wow! The mouth is invasive. The alcohol is certainly present. A few drops of water might aid this (not that I mind). The front is silky and sweet. The midpalate is grainy. and the backend is salty and smoky.
    Palate
The front is silky and sweet. The midpalate is grainy. and the backend is salty and smoky.
    Finish
Spicy and warm, the finish is prolonged and enjoyable.

Having really enjoyed the Glenfarclas 15, I decided to grab the 17 for a quiet and warm Sunday afternoon.
