    Color
    Light Amber/Straw
    Nose
Malt, Oak, Sweet Cereal, Grains, Honey, Vanilla, Fresh Sugar Cane, Floral, Slight hints of Smoke. Much reminiscent of a fledgling Speyside.
    Body
    Oily, but light bodied.
    Palate
Sweet barley, Toffee, Honey, Peppery, with a stinging yet pleasant tinge of Oak.
    Finish
Medium - Long, and very striking. A hit of alcohol is quickly drowned away by the Smokey and Woody undertones, underscored nicely by the ever present sweetness. Nice and warm.

This Scotch is a spectacular bargain. It is a blend that drinks like a single malt, arousing all of the familiar Speyside characteristics. The sweetness is balanced nicely against a subtle yet distinct smokiness. For the price range this is a spectacular choice and easily outclasses the competition.

    Color
    Light Amber
    Nose
Toffee, Butterscotch, Honey, Vanilla, Citrus, varied Floral Notes, and a fragrant touch of Oak interspersed with what appears to be the undulating drift of Cranberries and Rum Raisins.
    Body
Very Full Bodied, Thick, Oily, yet Soft and Mercurial, very gently rolling off, rather than seeping into, the contours of the tongue.
    Palate
Sweet Barley, Cereal notes, interesting amalgam of ripe Pear and red Apple, balanced against a Toffee - Chocolate union underscored by a peppery, Bourbon Oak.
    Finish
Medium - Long. An unobtrusive descent leaves one craving for a Warmth that, until the very point of its arrival, leaves one fearing disappointment. Yet, like the calm before the storm, a gentle yet assertive spiciness emerges to quench the demand for satisfaction. Very nice.

This single Malt is young, fresh, surprisingly complex, and a pleasure to consume. There are no explosive flavors here as can be typically found in the older single Malts, but the relatively strong nose grows well with a subtle, if immature, palate. Of course, for $24.99 this is a clear winner.

    Light Amber
    Nose
Grains, Sweetened Malt, Oak, and some indication of Fruit and Citrus - bit of lemon, pear, and apple. No real hints of Peat or Smoke.
    Body
    Thick, yet unobtrusive.
    Palate
Oak, Fruit, some Smoke, and a slight trickle of Toffee. Dangerously smooth.
    Finish
Due to it's smoothness, the finish is slightly disappointing. The Warmth is minimal, short, and no real flavor lingers on the palate or the back of the tongue.

What this blend has gained in inordinate smoothness, it has lost in flavor. The warmth and smokiness of the Black Label is dulled away for marginal gains in sweetness. Perhaps there is a subtlety being missed here. In my opinion however, for all of it's unobtrusiveness , the flavors fall a bit flat. Without dominance there can be no balance.

    Rich Amber, Golden
    Nose
Brazen rush of Fresh Smoke, Sea Salt, Charcoal, a Thick air of Peat and aromatic Charcoal. Upon a second encounter the Vanilla, Citrus, Honey, and Sweet Oak begin to emerge as a marvelous monolith of olfactive balance.
    Body
Thick, yet very balanced and easy to maneuver.
    Palate
While the nose emerges with the heavy flavors, the palate develops first with Sweetness and Vanilla, followed by a gentle yet assertive transition to the strong troika of Peat, Charcoal, and Salt.
    Finish
Medium - Long. The Warmth emerges after a slight delay, and lingers only momentarily. But, like all energetic matter, the magnitude of the Warmth serves as a reminder that great things often happen all at once. Fantastic.

It is quite difficult to precisely identify the interplay of Peat and Charcoal here. At first it is raw and sensational, but then the Charcoal transitions from freshly laid to the wonderful aroma of smoldering coals after a wonderful meal has been prepared and consumed. Interesting and unforgettable.

    Nose
Vanilla, Butterscotch, Honey, Citrus, and Mild Oak undertones splashed with a very subtle hint of Peat.
    Body
    Full, Silky, Lightly creamy.
    Palate
Very sweet, Sugary, the Butterscotch is very prominent and comes to dominate strongly, not to be outdone by the crisp twang of Honey. The Oak undertones fade into a strange yet welcome Chocolate brush. Perhaps even traces of walnut or almond. Very satisfying.
    Finish
Inordinately smooth. Deceptively so. Once swallowed one would hardly surmise that any alcohol has been consumed. However, after a slight pause of about 2 - 3 seconds, the warmth begins to trickle down into the stomach and pleasantly lingers. One of the most complex and drawn out finishes I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing in a Scotch.

This is an excellent Whiskey. Although one flavor seems to dominate the nose and the palate, this is not something to be viewed as a negative. It is a very distinct experience to have the nose match up so perfectly with the palate. Absolute pleasure to drink. Enjoy!

    Nose
Oak, Peat, Earth, Caramel, Balsam, Leather, hints of Apple, and a subtle spring of Honey.
    Body
    Creamy, full, smooth.
    Palate
Most of the fruit indicated by the nose hits quick, then lays aside to allow the earthy, smokey flavors to dominate and transition into the finish.
    Finish
A long finish, bringing an assertive warmth as the peat and oak linger in a delightful exchange on the sides of your tongue, punctuated ever slightly with reminders of the citrus.
