- Color
- A pale straw with a slight golden shimmer.
- Nose
- Extremely floral. Prominent notes of honey.
- Body
- Definitely not watery, but not what I would call thick or full-bodied. A pleasantly flowing texture which covers the mouth nicely.
- Palate
- Sweet. Very, very sweet. Only the slightest, most microscopic bit of smokiness was to be found on this one, and that only after a discerning mid-palate evaluation. Honey is dominant.
- Finish
- Perhaps a bit too smooth. There is no pleasant warming, nor is there any invigorating tingling to be found in this whisky.
From a historical perspective and after reading diligently on the subject, this seems to be a good example of the Speyside region (coming from a Scotch whisky beginner). Light, fruity, floral, very easy. I would recommend this whisky to anyone interested in getting their first taste. Very introductory in all aspects, though not unpleasant. Glen Moray 12 Year is light, fun entry which is approachable to even the most novice of whisky drinkers.
