This is by far the best Islay I've ever drank. There is distinct character in the peat of this whisky which is perfectly complimented by its sweet spiciness. Just the nose alone is utter heaven. I found myself breathing it in with all my breath. The palate is perfectly consistent with the nose, as is the amazingly present finish. This whisky is perfect!

This is my first taste of this bottle. I didn't expect I'd like this one as much as i do. It's a very delicate and structured malt with nothing that would offend an inexperienced whisky drinker. Its yumminess makes it a good desert whisky.

- Watered: Very bitter. Spoiled red wine, New leather, Peat. Suspicious. Full strength: Caramel and fruitcake sweetness.
- Body
- Full bodied and thick. A real kick in the face powerful malt.
- Palate
- Very powerful flavours. Burnt sugar & caramel. Slight wine notes. Much less than the nose suggests. Burns at full strength.
- Finish
- Super powerful finish. Lasts forever -- really! I had to drink water to make it stop 10 minutes later. Full strength brings out plumb notes in the finish. Burns in a good satisfying way.
This is my new favorite whisky. It is unlike anything else i've ever drank. Thanks a million to Kyle at the Shebeen whisky bar for recommending it. I will drink this as often as i can.
bushmills black bush

- Medium thin. Diluted flavours.
- Palate
- Very high sweet notes. White chocolate. Nutty. Some fruit. I find the grain whisky taste overpowering.
- Finish
- Burning and medium long. Definitely some warmth. Hot alcohol dissipating into very sweet aroma.
I've never been a blended whisky drinker, so this tasting is a bit of an experiment for me. This is certainly a high quality irish. I like some of the fruit in here, but it's so faint and masked that I find it dissatisfying. It makes me curious about the Bushmills single's. I expect good things there.

- Peat! A much stronger Islay than younger bottlings. Quite unexpected aroma strength.

- Medium and easy. Thick.

- Peat!! High sweet notes. Hard sugar candies.

- Not a real bearhug, but still long and warm. Some burn at full strength.
Drinkers of the younger Bruichladdich bottlings wont know what to expect with this one. It's more like a Laphroaig peat quality, but in spades. Very exciting.

- Lots of fruit, Vanilla, A hint of smoke.

- Very long and tingly. Ends slightly sour.
I've changed my mind many times about this one. Sometimes i find it dreadfully boring, but this time i'm absolutely delighted with it. It should be drank on a clean palate, or its subtleties will be lost. It is all in the subtlties with this one.

This whisky is all in the finish. It's terrific. I'm really starting to love Bruichladdich. I'm still feeling the warmth of it as i submit this review! How can a 15 be this mature!?

- Light and crisp. Very dry. Powerful flavours.

- Strong peat with lots of alcohol burn. More than expected from a 40% whisky. Malt.

- Warm and fast. Can burn the back of the throat. Very slightly sour at the end.
Laphroaig 10 is the whisky that made me a whisky drinker. I suspect it has had the same effect on many others. Many call it a love it or hate it malt, which perhaps makes it a poor choice as a first single malt, but i sure loved it. I consider it the purest definition of Islay.

A strong little bottle. It would be great given more time in the barrel. None the less, very enjoyable.
