- Color
- amber + mossy stone
- Nose
- Train smoke, St. Louis and Cincinnati summers, fresh peat, sea salt, kelp, barnacles, ozone, dank elevator shafts, tool sheds, turpentine, iodine, gauze, satsumas, and brine.
- Body
- Slightly oily...thick, very mouth watering.
- Palate
- Black pepper, very fresh asphalt smokiness, autumn bonfires, oak, leaf piles, iodine, toffee, vanilla, salt water, anise, hint of cinnamon. It's at it's best with just a drop of water...a 1/2 teaspoon at most will release a slight sweetness...bitter toffee and honey. simply a longing kind of spirit.
- Finish
- Warming, extremely long, and unforgettable. It haunts you from dusk until dawn and back again. i love this whisky!
Recommended to me by my father; Laphroaig 10 was my first foray into the land(s) of single malt scotch whisky. Since then I have sought out most other peated single and blended scotch whiskies...both Islay and otherwise. As good as most have been to me, I am never without a bottle of my one and only single malt muse, the Laphroaig 10.
