    Review: Bushmills Malt 16 Year Old

    What is the color of the whisky when you hold the glass up to the light?

    Example: Pale amber.

    Warm the whisky, hold the glass right up to your nose, and breathe gently. Stop for a few seconds and do it again. What are the aromas and flavors that come to mind? Be creative.

    Example: Heavy smoke, Peat, Earth, Hospital smell, Mandarine orange peels.

    Take a good dose of the whisky in your mouth. Roll it all over, mixing with your saliva. How does the whisky feel? Describe its body and texture.

    Example: Full bodied. Thick and Gritty.

    Describe the different flavors of the whisky. What do they remind you of? What simply comes to mind?

    Example: A bearhug of peat, Iodine, Sea salt, Rock sugar, Walnuts.

    What happens after you've swallowed the whisky? How long does it last? What changes does it go through until you no longer sense its presence?

    Example: A very long finish, and strong to the end. Warm and tingly. Hot.

    How much did you enjoy the whisky? Please give it a score between 50 and 99 using the following guidelines:

    "...a rating in the 50s indicates a malt that...lacks balance or character.... The 60s suggest an enjoyable but unexceptional malt. Anything in the 70s is worth tasting, especially above 75. The 80s are...distinctive and exceptional. The 90s are the greats."
