The rebel yell, one of the enduring legends of the war between the states, was infused with passion, commitment and honor. Those same qualities are what make Rebel Yell Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey the true taste to embody our country's storied history. Fourteen years prior to the great battle of Chickamaunga, Georgia, the first bottle of Rebel Yell was produced. It's heritage still lives on to this day.

    Color
Amber - it's the caramel of course
    Nose
    Good old corn liquor
    Body
More than adequate. Because of this, it can not only be savored straight or on the rocks, but mixes well for an Old Fashioned or a Manhattan
    Palate
Pure good Bourbon flavor - no romance
    Finish
Smooth feeling from entry along the palate and down the throat.

I have been drinking Bourbon since the age of fifteen, that is to say, for fifty-one years. I was introduced to Rebel Yell in 1985 when I was encouraged by business associates who noticed my penchant for Bourbon, to buy some in The South while on vacation. When I returned North, I found a distributor who would sell it to a local liquor store. It is now more commonly found. Rebel Yell is the drinking man's Bourbon for those who savor the flavor. If you want panache, buy something written up in The New Yorker Magazine and flatter yourself. If you enjoy your liquor, and I do not mean alcoholism, buy Rebel Yell. It mixes well for cocktails that are enhanced by additives, not overpowered. People who drink sissified drinks taste my 80 proof Rebel Yell and think that it is much stronger. This Bourbon is just plain old "GOOD."

    Smoothest there is. None Better

I do not know about the fruitiness or hint of raisin or any of that stuff. I have been a bourbon drinker for over 35 years. I have been drinking Rebel Yell for as long. It is as good as any bourbon there is and it is the brand I look for. I really feel the bad reviews are by people who are influenced by price. If you are paying more for Beam, Daniels ( I know not a true bourbon, but close enough, Kentucky Whiskey), or Makers Mark you may be paying too much. It used to be only available in the south, it was that exclusive in the 70's-80's. This is so smooth I turned a non-drinker into a bourbon drinker. Jack couldn't do that nor Beam...no way. . It is all a matter of taste said the farmer's wife when she kissed the cow. This is not as tasty as Wild Turkey or Knob Creek...but it is close and an excellent bourbon, whatever the price.

    Color
    Straw yellow
    Nose
Medium smoke, light peat, lemon zest, maraschino cherries.
    Body
A bit wattery, light and slippery.
    Palate
Some sweetness, Peat, lemon, spice, charcoal.
    Finish
long, medium astringency, with a strange maraschino cherry after taste.

A little thin and straight forward in the character department. But still a decent whisky. I don't know if it deserves the hype, but it certainley deserves some respect.

Amazing quality for the price. Best kept secret in the bourbon famiy. A little water brings out the best. Wish it was 86 or 90 proof instead of 80.

This whiskey doesn't have any real kick, but is very good none the less. I especially like the way the finish is so well divided into different flavours over time.
