Few whiskies offer as indulgent an experience as Johnnie Walker Gold Label. Exceptionally smooth, creamy and delicate, Gold Label is the ultimate whisky pleasure. A skillful fusion of rare aged whiskies inspired by the notes originally kept by Sir Alexander Walker and crafted from only a small number of Scotland's most renouned distilleries, each matured for a minimum of 18 years.

    Color
    Amber -1, "Gold"
    Nose
Neat: Peaches, Ice Cream, Cinnamon and Peat Smoke. Watered: peaty fruit, antiseptic and mouthwash. 27/33
    Body
Viscous. Great legs, think and slow running. Feels think in the mouth.
    Palate
Neat: Peaches and Peat, Sweetness and Smoke. Watered: Mild pepper, too weak. The palate suffers too much with the addition of water. 27/33
    Finish
Neat: Smokey Finish, very smooth. I think there may be some whisky's older that 18 years in this. Cotton, buttery aftertaste. Watered: Wear Smoke, water hurt this whisky. 28/33

This whicky drowns very easily The water, even a little bit, ruins it. When this whisky is first poured, it's peaty, both in the nose and the palate. After 15 minutes, it mellow a lot and becomes a nicely balanced whisky.

    Color
    deep amber
    Nose
    Sweet smokey earth
    Body
    medium bodied
    Palate
Nutty with a strong overlying of smoke finished by a slight sweetness
    Finish
Medium finish slight tingle rounded off by oak.

I picked up a 200ml bottle of this one sale. I enjoyed it thoroughly, however, there are cheaper single malts out there that have more complexity.

    Nose
    cream, chocolate, vanilla, flowers, oranges
    Body
smooth with a rough edge. When you freeze the bottle it's somewhat thicker then your average whisky.
    Palate
A wee bit of smoke, oak, honey, grass, flowers, chocolate, vanilla sugar
    Finish
long finish, keeps giving out flavors long after you swallowed it.

I really like Johnnie walker gold label, but mostly frozen for 24 hours. On room temperature i would rather buy green of black label (since they are a lot cheaper). With the bottle frozen the whisky becomes somewhat thicker and it warms in your mouth, quickly releasing all the yummy flavours all at once. An amazing experience, I gave it to a non whisky drinker and even she was amazed by it! Great.

    Color
    Orangy gold.
    Nose
Honey, mild citrus, licorice, faint smoke.
    Body
Very oily and creamy, tingly, full-bodied.
    Palate
Candy, toffee, caramel, roasted marshmallow smoke.
    Finish
Some fruity pepper comes through, complementing the candied palate. Super smooth, but rather short for 18 years.

Nothing wrong with this blend except the price. To get a good intro to blends, buy the JW four-pack of 200mL's, and nurse those for 4 months. Then watch and wait for the Blue to go on sale and pony up. The Gold will be a nice, but fleeting memory.

    Color
    Light copper.
    Nose
Oak, some peaches and honey malt.
    Body
Thicker legs falling down unevenly, full bodied but very smooth.
    Palate
Oak, some honey and light smoke, but with some sourish spices. Strange.
    Finish
Quite long and nice honey, very warming but alcohol is gently hidden.

OK, this is the fancy one. Very nice and pleasant for sure, but still not a big improvement from green, although completely different, looks like it misses some stronger character. Could be better for such a fancy thing.

    Nose
    Honey, raisin, almond, light smoke
    Body
    Smooth, gentle
    Palate
    Raisin, almond, vanilla
    Finish
    Medium finish, warm, relatively smooth

I know why I paid what I did for the bottle. It feels complex, but still has some strong flavors. I'd recommend it after smoking. The flavors go very well with tobacco.
