- Color
- Light Amber
- Nose
- Grains, Sweetened Malt, Oak, and some indication of Fruit and Citrus - bit of lemon, pear, and apple. No real hints of Peat or Smoke.
- Body
- Thick, yet unobtrusive.
- Palate
- Oak, Fruit, some Smoke, and a slight trickle of Toffee. Dangerously smooth.
- Finish
- Due to it's smoothness, the finish is slightly disappointing. The Warmth is minimal, short, and no real flavor lingers on the palate or the back of the tongue.
What this blend has gained in inordinate smoothness, it has lost in flavor. The warmth and smokiness of the Black Label is dulled away for marginal gains in sweetness. Perhaps there is a subtlety being missed here. In my opinion however, for all of it's unobtrusiveness , the flavors fall a bit flat. Without dominance there can be no balance.

- Palate
- Earthy, fruity, a little nutty with very faint smokiness.
- Finish
- Surprisingly short but very warm and sweet.
Good but sadly overpriced. My friend bought me a double at my wedding for $34. It was a special treat that I did enjoy but at the end of the day I don't feel it was worth the money. Black Label is almost as good with a significantly better price tag.

- Color
- Light golden amber
- Nose
- Faint flowers and fruit. Maybe a little peat.
- Body
- Medium-light. Seems to get lighter with every sip.
- Palate
- A little honey, smoke and flowers all rolled together. Peat is almost absent.
- Finish
- Finish is somewhat short and wimpy.
This is smooth and balanced; just as you would expect from JW. But the profile doesn't match the price.

A fine scotch, although not worth the price IMO. I've tasted single malts for half the cost and twice the character. Still, a damn good drink and one you should try just to be in the club

- Amber -1
- Nose
- Citrus, lemon, orange, slight peat, and a tad bit of smoke.
- Body
- Medium bodied, nothing too impressive on the legs.
- Palate
- Very slight peat, very smooth with citrus flavors, strawberry, and peaches.
- Finish
- Decent finish but ends too quickly.
This is a decent dram but the price does not justify the quality of the spirit inside the bottle.

- Thick, oily, perfect.

- Color
- Pale gold.
- Nose
- Hardly any smell at all. The smokiness that black label provided is gone.
- Body
- Thick body.
- Palate
- A bit geriatric in nature. Slow and flavorless. I expected more for something this expensive.
- Finish
- No kick, maybe a quick bite but nothing more. A one night stand gone wrong.
For the Black label enthusiasts, you won't get a hint of "Black" in this "Blue."

Spectacular. I am a long time scotch drinker. I drink more red wine than anything lately though. In my late twenties I drank quite a bit of whisky. I never had the money then to try some of this, but always loved Gold Label. I figured I would give it a go. I believe I can summarize my experience by saying "I have tasted many $100 bottles of wine, and thought, this is good, but not worth more than the typical $30 bottle. This "Blue" is worth every cent."

Nice but as great as the price suggests. I put this in the class of JW Gold Label which I feel is a an exceptional whiskey. Taste is very similar. Very good just not worth the price they ask for it.

Do a blind taste test between JWBlue and Teachers blend. Tell me if JWBlue is worth the extra $170! Try it, seriously! BTW Laphroaig 1/4 Cask is my favorite but for an everyday swill, Teachers can't be beat!

Put in the same class as JW Gold Label. Lesser nose than JWGL. Too pricey for what is so much like JW Gold.

an amazingly well balanced smooth whiskey that a novice can enjoy and appreciate. the alcohol is never overpowering. it is never harsh. a start that is pleasant and a finish that makes one smile as the finish fades ever so gently.

while jw blue is indeed a fine blended whiskey, relative to the scores i've seen on many other fine, equally smooth, and altogether more distinctive whiskeys on this site, it scores too high. so in an attempt to even things out a bit, i'm trying to adjust the average. seriously, look at some of the other scores of the fine whiskeys. the best average you'll tend to see is around 85; while jw blue is nice, it's a big homogeneous and indistinctive, worthy of no higher a score than the average earned by many other fine whiskeys on this site.

- Color
- Thick orange amber.
- Nose
- Candied citrus peel, purple flower bushes (the kind bees like), dripping honey, wet oak wood.
- Body
- Luxurious on the tongue, though indistinct.
- Palate
- Old oak at the fore, a bevy of other flavors swish elsewhere. Mild all over - no attack whatsoever.
- Finish
- Verrrry long and warm, indicating some serious age blended in there. Smoother than a baby's bottom.
This is really good rich man's candy - smooth, varied, and an excellent mature finish - there may not be a finer blend on planet Earth for mere mortals to imbibe.

- Nose
- Powerful, yet extremely delightful burnt wood smell that sifts through your nose. Fiery, sweet, and very spicily enjoyable smell.
- Body
- Heavy texture, great spicy sweet feeling on and especially around the tongue, numbing the pallet, great to breathe in. Absolute pleasure.
- Palate
- Spicy burnt oak that lingers in your mouth creating an anesthetically pleasing feeling. It reminds me of euphoria, with a mix of nostalgia (finished my bottle in a year's time).
- Finish
- It has the greatest aftertaste of any whiskey I've ever had. Long lasting spicy feeling in mouth, throat-warming feeling, The best is the tongue + pallet-numbing feeling it gives you. Lasts so long...
Buy this if you have the money.
