The people of Jura are superstitious. From the prophecy of the one-eyed Campbell to an aversion to cutting peat before May, age-old island beliefs resonate to this day.

Review by ColoradoDram
- Color
- Tobacco amber.
- Nose
- Tobacco, wet hay/grass, toffee.
- Body
- Medium bodied. Water makes more silky/oily and chewy.
- Palate
- Tobacco, minty-camphor. wet leather, ever-so-slight sherried-toffee-grass.
- Finish
- A beautifully dry sip of tobacco oil without the cough. Water adds some peppercorn spice and heat and length without any increase in acidity. More youthful attack when tasted neat. What a great mix of contrasts - how much is young and how much is mature?
I'm on my second bottle of this confoundingly unique and great 'old' and 'new' expression from an island distillery. I suggest 4 drops of water to the dram from the outset and then nose and taste (and chew?) your way through this one with a good cigar or a nearby lighted chimney.

Review by J
At first I thought this was a great whisky, however I found that it leaves a not particularly pleasant after taste. (the kind you get in the morning after a heavy night out) Jura 10year old on the other hand was very good with no aftertaste.

- Color
- Old Gold
- Nose
- Bit of smoke, bit of maritime, bit of orange zest.
- Body
- Full, complex and smooth - exceptionally complex - a little chewey/oily.
- Palate
- Chocolate covered orange, buttered popcorn, smooth and sweet.
- Finish
- Bite at the end, finish is long, this Scotch does leave an aftertaste - goes great with a Cigar.
A fantastic Whisky - I would drink it every day if I could. It is hard to obtain in my area. It's complex so it may be tough for some to enjoy. Do not judge it by your first dram.

- Color
- Dark sherry tinged amber
- Nose
- Medium smoke and slightly sweet-almost a peaty Crown Royal
- Body
- Tried a few drams with a friend. Some with a few drops and others neat. Finished most of the bottle and every dram tasted different. Even 2 drams neat one ater the other tasted different. Some were smooth and peaty with a clean finish ohters were harsh and a bitter finish. Very odd experience.
- Palate
- smoke mixed with sweet slight spice tatses. Very drinkable. Went and bought another for the library.
- Finish
- With water-finished smooth and sweet. Straight finished harsh and bitter. Didn't linger long either way. No smoke 'burps' later.
Complex and Frustrating

- Color
- Dark orange
- Nose
- Slight sweet smoke, the zest of an orange lingers in the air as grandma makes maramalade.
- Body
- Oily and chewy
- Palate
- Too much orange and chocolate (that of a jaffa), slightly too sweet... like the end of a bag of jaffas you've eaten all in one sitting
- Finish
- Long, unfortunately.
If you like jaffas (an orange flavoured chocolate candy) then you'll like this... toherwise far too sweet and full of orange zest.
