- Color
- Orange gold.
- Nose
- Like Elijah Craig 18 single barrel bourbon, sweet fermenting bananas, apples, cedarwood.
- Body
- Full bodied, thick, oily pat of butter on the tongue.
- Palate
- Confirms the nose.
- Finish
- Low-medium heat but a nice long and smooth finish. The kicker on this one is the bitter barley and oak symphony that lavishes your mouth in the breath following the swallow - very nice for a beer and bourbon lover!
Bottle 9938 (of what may be a different fill of Scottish Oak since it said 16 years - 2nd fill?), this one takes patience. On initially tasting (I never review prior to at least three pours), I thought it was an aged-bourbon imposter. After some time and patience, I appreciate the delicacy and uniqueness imparted by the local oak. I still like the Glengoyne 17 better, but this is a really good Highland.
