What first hits you about the fresh and fragrant Glenfiddich Special Reserve is the touch of pear in the nose, followed by a distinctive, well-balanced flavour of rich fruit, subtle pine and a hint of peatiness. Expect a satisfyingly long, lingering and rounded aftertaste.

- Color
- Very Dark Gold
- Nose
- Strong alcohol, Caramel, Heavy green apple, Grassy
- Body
- Full and Sweet
- Palate
- Caramel, Sherry, Green apple or Pear, Grassy, Smokey
- Finish
- Short and Hot. Warming. Peppery, Grassy, Sour
Water helps thie nose of this whisky, but hurts the palate. It becomes too floural and sour, and the flavours become poorly integrated. Especially the Sherry and Grassy notes.

- Light amber
- Nose
- Fresh Water. Fruits.
- Body
- Light bodied
- Palate
- Peach, Plum, Fresh water.
- Finish
- A long finish, light to the end. Hot.
A friend offered this whisky for me to try, he keeps it as his daily stuff. But I found it too light, although fruity, smoother than some, but a real burning sensation. It wasn't much to drink, kind of felt like I was drinking water even though I hadn't even started adding water in at all. This is probably one of the worst whisky's I've had. It isn't worth trying, yet it doesn't taste awful. Advice: just stick to water instead!

- Nose
- Sweetly floral, caramel, lightly fruity, creamy.
- Body
- Smooth like clover honey
- Palate
- Neat; Very full bodied and warm with hints of caramel, sweet cream, and spices. Rocks; Lightly complex with hints of caramel, apples, apricots, green grapes, sweet cream and honey.
- Finish
- Neat; The finish is very warm with hints of pepper and cedar which mellos quickly to a gentle smooth taste of honey. Rocks; very smooth and mellow with hints of buttery caramel and sweet spices.
This is a very nice Whisky which I can enjoy any time of the day. I prefer it over rocks it seems to wake up the flavors a little more and give it very complex yet gentle flavor. It is very smooth and is an excellent choice for both new and experienced drinkers.

A great whisky! Really smooth and sweet. Easy to get into when you are new to single malts. Was my first ever single malt purchase and I still like it a lot.

- Color
- A diluted gold
- Nose
- Sweet smelling, fruity with the slightest hint of milk chocolate.
- Body
- Smooth
- Palate
- Sweet, Fruity, reminds me of sweet apples
- Finish
- Not a long finish, the fruitiness comes through a bit more. A slight burn but possibly just due to me lack of experience.
I'm a fairly new Whiskey drinker, what with only having been of legal drinking age for a year, so apologies for lack of experience but here's my best shot at a review of what I believe to be a very nice Whiskey... (I recommend this Whiskey to new whiskey drinkers like myself)

- Color
- Sparkling yellow amber in the glass
- Nose
- Delicate nose hints of honey nut
- Body
- Light
- Palate
- A burst of sparkling clean grains with subtle oak undertones and malty spiciness, a master distiller’s balance is evident.
- Finish
- Effectively detained and arrives at first with vanilla-oak, then the razor sharp grains return, and leisurely dissipate.
Archetypal Speysider; it’s a complex character. The subtly inclined will appreciate this classic which still rings true.

- Color
- Pale amber
- Nose
- Fruity, alcoholic, and complex
- Body
- Light, not extremely full-bodied
- Palate
- Subtle and complex, this scotch has an interesting combination of fruity sweetness, smoke, oakiness, and grain.
- Finish
- Not very long finish, but one that is entirely consistent with its taste, which is rich and complex.
Is there a better scotch for the money? I haven't found one. This whisky is so universally scorned that one could say people are following trends rather than their own taste. This is definitely a fine scotch for everyday drinking (morning, afternoon, and night, as desired).

- Color
- Amber, polished copper
- Nose
- Honey, Citrus, Lemon, Tea
- Body
- Thin but clean legs
- Palate
- Warm fruit compote, and cider. Mildly bitter, like unsweetened cocoa.
- Finish
- Feisty medium finish! Smokey Sherry profile, citrus and Maple.
Take this neat in a snifter or a chardonnay glass. water destroys the richness and diversity in the palate. This is a very drinkable malt, definitely worth my time. This was my first Single malt, all those years ago and it must have made an impression. Its too bad people bad mouth this fine Scotch, it was excellent. I am rating it 6 points above the average rating it currently holds on this site, and deservedly so. Slainte' Va

- Color
- Pale amber
- Nose
- Very fruity and sweek like Christmas cake. The oak is present too.
- Body
- Medium bodied, fairly dry. Low on the creamy/oily scale.
- Palate
- Hints of dark chocolate, tobacco, vanilla from the oak balanced out by a citrucy twang at the end.
- Finish
- Starts sweet with mild heat but doesn't linger very long. Medium to short finnish.
Nicely balanced and restrained. Complexity is there you just have to work for it. This is as classic as it gets. What I like most about this is it just tastes like scotch and I mean that in a good way.

- Color
- Light amber
- Nose
- Very sweet and fruity. Pears, apples, orange peel and vanilla.
- Body
- Gentle and floral. Eases you in as opposed to a punch in the face.
- Palate
- Matches the nose nicely. Mostly sweet notes and the oak is very well integrated but doesn't dominate.
- Finish
- Medium. Carries through for a bit then the oak tannins take over to cleans the palate.
Don't listen to the malt snobs. There's a reason this is the number one selling malt in the world. It's just an excellent value. A fine expression of Speyside as you'll find without breaking the bank. What's not to like?
