Our master craftsmen have created a complex, mellow single malt Scotch whisky from years of patient maturation in casks of the finest Oloroso sherry and American bourbon. It is secreted away in our traditional warehouse, where the cool, thick stone walls and low ceilings mature the whisky to perfection. Years later what emerges is a Glenfiddich Ancient Reserve with an elegant nose, faintly sweet, scented with apple and wood. It is robust and full-bodied, yet remarkably soft, rounded and long lasting.

- Color
- Amber
- Nose
- Cooked fruit, heather, some wisps of peat and wheat cracker; a little rubbery.
- Body
- Full and creamy
- Palate
- Sweet cooked prunes and honey; gets quickly drier with lightly charred oak and spice with some pepper. Well balanced with good transitions.
- Finish
- Long finish slightly dry oak and toasted cereal with very light wisps of smoke
A good dram, very flavorful with a nice finish.

Perfect sherry subtleness, but a little too sour. Water helped, but brings out more of the grassy sourness.

- Color
- Medium caramel orange.
- Nose
- Sweet barley, cooked yellow raisins and cloves, a little of that hospital smell, sour green apple skins, and very slight vanilla.
- Body
- Medium body for its age, though honors its maturity enough on the tongue, gets more oily with water.
- Palate
- Heavy camphor/band-aid latex up front, sour apples and sweet flowers (strange combo), spicy cinnamon/ginger.
- Finish
- Long finish, medium warm, fresh ginger and aged pepper, smoothing of time shows. Much favored over the 15 Solera.
This is an excellent value for a mature and reasonably complex Speyside, especially if you like the phenolic/camphor nose and taste as I do. I was almost expecting disappointment given what "purists" had told me about Glenfiddich. I'm glad I didn't listen to them...

Fantastic .. when I pulled the cork on her I knew I'd love this one .. like the bottom of a peat bog way up in the Highlands of Scotland with an essence of Sherry and USA Charcoal barrels .. loved it from the beginning to the end.
