    Review by Insinuendo

    Color
This one has an orangy, gold hue to it and its oiliness is apparent around the edges.
    Nose
Maybe the color is affecting my judgement, but there are citrus notes on the nose. Some smokiness is blended beautifully with the malty sweetness. There is a fresh apple fruity component in there as well. Maybe even candied apple. Very complex.
    Body
Wow! The mouth is invasive. The alcohol is certainly present. A few drops of water might aid this (not that I mind). The front is silky and sweet. The midpalate is grainy. and the backend is salty and smoky.
    Palate
The front is silky and sweet. The midpalate is grainy. and the backend is salty and smoky.
    Finish
Spicy and warm, the finish is prolonged and enjoyable.

Having really enjoyed the Glenfarclas 15, I decided to grab the 17 for a quiet and warm Sunday afternoon.

    Color
    Amber orange.
    Nose
Gentle citrus and floral malt. Water distinguishes the floral scent as lavender.
    Body
Medium-light body/thickness, decent oily slickness though - legs confirm.
    Palate
Delicious flat malt with confirming floral sweetness from the nose.
    Finish
Quite long and prickly, fresh grassy attack (water balances this), lasting dryness with sweet afterbreath (again, water enhances this as well).

Water this scotch with 4-8 drops...it benefits at nosing, on palate, and during finish. I love that Glenfarclas centers the malt and accents it with scent and flavors, and not the other way around. This is another great example from this distillery how to do it.

This was a recommendation by one of my favorite bartenders. She said it was like chocoate, and she was right. The chocolate distinct and enjoyable. Behind it is a mellow medium dry malt. Well balanced and mature.
