Glen Garioch Distillery is situated in the Aberdeenshire village of Old Meldrum in the Scottish Highlands. This region is famed for its stunning scenery, colourful tartans and is home to many distilleries, Glen Garioch being one of the oldest and most endearing. Established in 1797, this small distillery takes its name from the Valley of the Garioch, traditionally the finest barley growing area of Scotland. There is a saying that from small beginnings come great things and this could not be more true for Glen Garioch.

- Color
- Brown amber.
- Nose
- Youthful, fresh-cut grass, a little sour apple.
- Body
- Light-medium, astringent.
- Palate
- Brown-sugar, some bitter flowers.
- Finish
- A wee bit attack for a 15, and a dash of water doesn't ease things - in fact, it turns it more astringent, though it is long and warming. This is where the lavendar and oak sap take sail, and they sail on and on...
This is a scotch of some misdirection - nose of grass and sour apples, palate of sugar and bitter flowers, and a finish of distinct oak and lavendar. Worth a taste, but much better Highland values abound.
