Black Bush Irish Whiskey is a rich, dark blend from Ireland's oldest working distillery, Old Bushmills Distillery in County Antrim. It is comprised almost entirely of single malt whiskey. The malt whiskey used to create Black Bush is aged in carefully selected Spanish Oloroso sherry-seasoned oak casks before being blended with a small portion of delicate sweet single grain whiskey. The secret of the whiskey's lively character lies in finding the perfect combination of the intense, spicy malt whiskey and the lighter, crisp single grain. As the whiskeys mellow together, the uniquely rounded bouquet, rich amber hue and distinctive spicy taste of Black Bush is born.

    Color
    Polished brass
    Nose
    Candied cherries, Alcohol burn.
    Body
    Medium thin. Diluted flavours.
    Palate
Very high sweet notes. White chocolate. Nutty. Some fruit. I find the grain whisky taste overpowering.
    Finish
Burning and medium long. Definitely some warmth. Hot alcohol dissipating into very sweet aroma.

I've never been a blended whisky drinker, so this tasting is a bit of an experiment for me. This is certainly a high quality irish. I like some of the fruit in here, but it's so faint and masked that I find it dissatisfying. It makes me curious about the Bushmills single's. I expect good things there.

    Color
    Light amber.
    Nose
    Rubbing alcohol. Mustard.
    Body
    Extremely thin.
    Palate
Overpowering taste of alcohol. Hot. Tiny smidgen of smoke.
    Finish
Burns the throat and hits the stomach hard. Lasts a long time in the stomach.

I'd drink this if i didn't have anything else to drink. It's not bad, it's not the worst whisky i've ever drank, but it's not the best either. I would not drink to much of it though.

    Nose
A bit of chocolate and butterscotch. Not a lot, just enough to get your interest.
    Body
This is a smooth, even whisky, Has a little weight, enough to let you know you are dealing with significant quality.
    Palate
A touch of sweet, a bit of butter, a mellow feel to the tongue.
    Finish
Holds its own with a mellow warm afternote.

This is an excellent whisky for reading, contemplating, solving world problems, or just relaxing after having solved world problems. This is the one I serve important people.

This a fine whiskey and very enjoyable. That being said a few years ago I bought a bottle of Bushmills single malt 10 year old and this was one of the absolute best if not the best Irish whiskey I have ever tasted.

    Color
Bronze - Amber, looks like whisky.
    Nose
Chocolate, butter, mild phenol or fusel oil nose.
    Body
It did feel a bit thick and oily.
    Palate
Smooth buttery overlays a rambunctious revel of iodine, salt and chocolate.
    Finish
A bit bitter, but the oaky smoothness hides this. Mild fruit finish, like dates or raisins.

Very drinkable Irish blend. The grain content makes it buttery smooth, like a bourbon. I took it neat in a snifter at Durty Nellies Irish Pub with the officers of the 94th. If I am going to drink a blend, I would rather drink Teachers, but this whisky is good in its own right. It doesn't need ice or a mixer. Colin and Saul were hard on this one, but give it a try. You may take too it. I do agree that it's a little troubling to the stomach, but only for a minute.
