    Color
A very good toffee colour which gives a glow of an autumn day
    Nose
Smells of Appalachia - takes you there
    Body
Very smooth but has a texture to the body that has depth
    Palate
This is a smooth whiskey with a lot of complex flavours that don't necessarily reveal themselves in the first glass
    Finish
I normally make the mistake of having some good strong blue cheese with this at the end of an evening but the taste of the bourbon lingers so much you simply skip brushing your teeth to keep it going into the night

This is an exceptional old friend it sit with of an evening. Almost too damn drinkable.

    Color
    Burnt orange, rich Amber.
    Nose
The nose on this one is, in a word, staggering. I get Jazz apples, liquorice and fresh mint, white oak, maybe a hint of cherry and caramelised cane sugar. It's got such a strong but superbly balanced nose that oozes character. I could sniff it all day.
    Body
    Firm bodied, sugary oils. Devine.
    Palate
Again I get apples, strong liquorice and garden mint. Various other fruits abound and all balanced by firm oak and a faint spice. This is truly a treat for the palate.
    Finish
Perfect timing on the release of its various flavours that lasts a good while. After the fresh fruits recede I get the remaining liquorice and mint. There is a clear hit of raisin at the very end. Superb!

My first real foray into Bourbon blows away any single malt snobbery I may have had in quite dramatic fashion. This incredibly distinctive whisky has won my heart with its strong mix of distinctive yet superbly balanced flavours and a nose that is just remarkable. If the majority of American whisky is of this standard then I may be taking a long vacation from my beloved Scotch. It's also absurdly good value for money. Highly recommended!

    Amber +3 burnished copper
    Nose
Butter! Maple, Pie crust, soft and warm. lemon squares with powdered sugar
    Body
Thin syrup. Not overly viscous or terribly hot despite being 90 proof (gotta love 90 Proof) hardly produces any legs in the glass. The mouth feel is interesting. It lightly coats one's mouth and sets it all at ease. Lovely.
    Palate
Maple and orange peel, smooth and slightly spicy. It's warm and forgiving. Easy to drink and flawless. Delicious, but simpler than a Scotch. Oh my this is good, better than I had really noticed before. After 30 minutes, it really opens up and kisses you.
    Finish
The finish is well mannered, the sweetness of the nose is felt again in the after taste. It is not overly hot. The finish is medium to short, 3 or 4 seconds in length.

What a marvelous find. It's inexpensive, readily available and absolutely delicious. Neat in a Chardonnay glass, over 35 minutes brought a terrific experience. This bourbon is my favorite strength, 90 Proof. The recipe is a generous majority of yellow corn, the distiller's grade rye and finally malted barley. The citurs is in the back o buttery, toffee smoothness, as opposed to being up front like an Irish Whiskey. I love this bourbon. God Bless America.

    Burnt umber/sienna mix
    Nose
    Carmel, brown sugar, vanilla, cloves
    Body
    36-26-36
    Palate
Frolicking in autumnal splendor; riveting, floral citrus, with a touch of hibiscus tendrils
    Finish
Nice whiskeys finish last. This is not a nice whiskey. It rages against the dying of the light.

Better font than Dickel, that's for sure. The bottle has a pleasing shape and height. There is cork in the tip. Best enjoyed with steak. Preferably buffalo steak. Not for beginners, only for accomplished Bourbonnaires.

    Dark amber
    Nose
    Sweet, fruity.
    Body
The lighter end of medium. Thin enough to be mixed but bold enough to be worth taking neat.
    Palate
Not a cloying sweet bourbon, but with enough complexity to interest the Scotch drinker in me.
    Finish
    Average.

I don't really care for bourbon, I prefer Scotch but this was a very pleasant drink on a hot day. Worth keeping in your cabinet as a better bourbon.

Really good choice and I'm glad that I trusted the shop owner. I'm looking forward to moving up to the next level. This is a great introduction if you are looking to start.

My first try at whiskey. This one was highly recommended by the shop owner as a “good place to start”

    Color
    Light golden amber
    Nose
Vanilla, with sweet oaky undertones. Reminds me a candy with a leathery wrapping.
    Body
Soft, smooth and velvety... Looks like Johnny walker got lost and found in Kentucky with this one.
    Palate
Vanilla, nutty, oath, etc... Everything a bourbon should be. The palate will thank you for it!
    Finish
Finishes strong and bites right at the end. Softens slowly after the bite.. Be ready for it or you might not enjoy it.

Great example of good bourbon. Great tasting, quality, and a good strong finish.. I recommend this to friends and enemy's.

    Golden sunset.
    Nose
    Potent oak, corn grains, oak
    Body
    Full corn grain and oak.
    Palate
Hot, peppery, tastes as though they soaked the bourbon in oak chips which is done to rush a young whisky into tasting older and fooling many. This bourbon in no way should rate as high as it does on here. Must be the marketing, lol.
    Finish
Warm to hot and peppery with still plenty of oak and a stainless steel bite.

    Oak, oak, more oak...

Not too long lasting. but most enjoyable

My first impression is that this whiskey is very smooth. The first taste rolls across the tongue and then vaporizes, releasing tastes of fresh peaches and berries in a heavy syrup. A slight smokey aftertaste ripe with honey. A most pleasurable experience.

Cherry, good pipe tobacco, and world class vanilla

A twinge of spice with plenty of almost dark chocolate aftertaste ... A nice lingering finish.

Lengthy but subtle. The earthiness shows up right at end in a pleasant sendoff.

Took four months to finally find a bottle and I was not disappointed.

    Color
    Medium amber
    Nose
    Gentle, sweet maize.
    Body
Lighter in body than many of it's Kentucky contemporaries
    Palate
White corn, then grains and finally oak takes over creating a fine balance
    Finish
Finish is at first oak, then, surprise: a delayed vanilla is released.

Decidedly subtle, and a quality bourbon experience, but I prefer a bit more rebel bombast with my American whiskey.

Oak. A dash of cinnamon and other spices. Vanilla. Fermented fruit. Alcohol.
    Body
    Medium. Slight oil.
    Palate
Fruity and spicy without being excessively sweet. A bit hot.
    Finish
Long for a bourbon. Dried cherries. Warm tea near the end.

One of my favorite Bourbons in its price range. Good enough to drink straight, cheap enough to be a great mixer.

Medium full bodied and mouth coating.
    Palate
First taste of strong sour wine and hickory with sweeter attack.
    Finish
Quite a long finish of liquorice and sweet corn. Nice development.

As a UK resident this was one of my first 'true' Bourbons. Strong robust start but good smoother finish!

    Color
    Deep amber.
    Nose
Carmelized honey and sugar - kind of like roasted marshmallow on graham cracker. Bitter limeskin oil on lightly sapped oak wood. Very pleasant to nose.
    Body
Medium-full bodied, less oily on the tongue than the legs on the glass indicate.
    Palate
Confirms the nose. Balanced - I can't tell a prevalence of rye, barley, or corn (unlike some Bourbons...including Buffalo Trace's very own 10 year Eagle Rare single barrel).
    Finish
Confirms the nose and palate but inverted (first comes the bitter limeskin oak sap, then follows the charred honeycomb). Very smooth and forgiving, much like a blended scotch. Medium burn, long-lasting.

This is an excellent bourbon - great nose, fantastic sipping, nice finish, and a great value. Every cabinet has certain distilled spirits that always seem to find their way onto the shelf. I think I have found my bourbon in Buffalo Trace - it's exceptional.

Peppery spice, hint of Toffee or Butterscotch at the end and big smoke flavor
    Finish

This is an outstanding everyday bottle but I would prefer a more smoother taste and less spice for special occasions, Can't beat the price. Goes well on a Wednesday after work to help finish off the week but not a weekend bottle for me.

    Color
Heavy oaken brown in the bottle, lighter, buttescotch yellow in the glass
    Nose
The Jungian archtype of Bourbon measured out in 30 ml: The first rising sweetness, corn syrup thick till it is almost maple. Underneath the wood plays, american oak and Kentucky summer, a shy spiciness that imitates nuts, burnt toffee, cinnamon. It is the long wafting must of a plantation home, the fetid aroma of nostlagia and decay.
    Body
An easy medium, swaggers without pomposity. Slick but not oily.
    Palate
It is not the saccahrine swill the nose sometimes suggests, but fufills the undercurrents, the elegant, wonderfully restrained wood dominates instead, allowing the nebulous spices a word in here and there.
    Finish
It is not until after you swallow that you get any sense of alcohol from this whiskey. But like a lingering resentment it comes all at the end, fierce and brutal - a heaving fire that smolders down to a tingle that will slowly fade, leaving a velvet thickness in your throat. And a touch of dark chocolate my senses discovered long before but my mind could not evoke.

Buffalo Trace is polished, elegant enough for a cigar and smoking jacket scene, without losing the raw frontieer spirit credentials that the word Bourbon evokes. It is a quiet unassuming bottle, affecting no pretensions, but its plummable depths, and easy swilling straight from the botttle attitude marry together the two worlds of whisky without compromise.
