Bruichladdich 20 Years Old

Distillery: Bruichladdich
Style: Single Malt
Release: Third Edition
Age: 20 Years
Alcohol: 46% abv.
Region: Scotland, Islay
Bottled For: Distillery

Matured for 20 years on the Celtic island of Islay in Bourbon Barrels, then decanted into Malmsey Medeira hogsheads to complete its journey. The perfect fusion of two Atlantic islands- Islay with her windswept, rocky coastline and Madeira's more tranquil, sub-tropical warmth. The result is a dark alluring, decadent malt. Intense rich, with rasins, black cherry, vanilla pod, burnt orange, and fruit cake flavours that linger seductively.

Color: Light honey
Nose: Very faint & bitter phenol. Slightly hot.
Body: Medium thickness. Quickly wets the mouth.
Palate: Fainly candy like, Smoke, Peat, The flavour fades quickly.
Finish: Comes on fast, but slows. Long finish. Warmth stays in the skull, not in the body.

Perfectly drinkable. Not overpowering. With water it thinks the flavour, but the peat makes it through nicely. A little bit of pepper watered.

Color: Darker amber.
Nose: Peat! A much stronger Islay than younger bottlings. Quite unexpected aroma strength.
Body: Medium and easy. Thick.
Palate: Peat!! High sweet notes. Hard sugar candies.
Finish: Not a real bearhug, but still long and warm. Some burn at full strength.

Drinkers of the younger Bruichladdich bottlings wont know what to expect with this one. It's more like a Laphroaig peat quality, but in spades. Very exciting.
