In recent years Black Bottle has finally returned thanks to the efforts of the Graham family and several master blenders. Both Gordon Graham, the last Graham to work for Black Bottle, and whisky writers agree that the current taste is the closest possible to the dram first blended over 100 years ago.

- lighter fuel
tastes like it has lighter fuel in it. One of the nastiest whiskeys I have tried.

- Really good.
- Finish
- Just as pleasant as the taste.
Finally obtained after reading many reviews. This blend seems to me to be unique. Slight oily texture, excellent taste. Preferable to any other blends I have (JW Black, JW Green, White Horse, Teacher's,etc.). Iwill rate this blend 88 among blends because I haven't tried all blends and MAYBE there might be a better one out there but at less than $20??? I doubt it.

- Nose
- Most evident neat is actually a slightly honeyed malt. Gentle peat and smoke evident a bit behind it. Very slight iodine. Dry citrus there as well.
- Body
- Medium, somewhat heavy for a blend.
- Palate
- Laid-back but persistent peat, a hearty yet simultaneously restrained puff of cigar smoke, quality malt, some vague fruits, and...vanilla. Not surprisingly, Bunnahabhan is most evident in the taste, with Ardbeg and Caol Ila moments.
- Finish
- Not extreme, but somewhat long for a blend. Fading embers of peat fires and a bit of smoke. A n excellent introduction to Islay sensations for the newbie. Gentle enough to not intimidate, but manages to remain interesting and keeping the distinctly Islay-flavors strong enough to endeer. I can't help but keep considering this a simultaneously subtle, yet sporting some intensity, if I may without sounding I am waxing poetic for the sake of.
One of the very top within the category of economy no-age-statement blended scotch (or even among any under $30 blend in general). A personal favorite blend of mine, alongside Teacher's, Islay Mist 8, and the Famous Grouse (with some water).

- Nose
- Peat, light smoke, butter.
- Body
- medium body, decent legs, wonderful texture.
- Palate
- Light smoke, light peat, butter scotch, slightly phenolic, very gentle on the tongue. Not the typical Islay peat blast like Islay and Ardbeg. More reserved for it's character. A good affordable/starter dram for those curious about Islay whiskies. Wonderful craft indeed. Highly recommended.
- Finish
- Slight warming finish but goes away quickly. Still a good dram.
This is a decent blend. What makes it so attractive is the wonderful price and the quality!

- Color
- Pale amber is good - paler than most blended standard stuff
- Nose
- Heather! Whiff of peat as well.
- Body
- Light-to-medium. A very pleasant tipple!
- Palate
- Heather is even more prevalent in taste than it is in the nose.
- Finish
- Long-ish and nicely floural.
Lovely! You could pass this off as a single malt to many whisky drinkers (if decanted) and get away with it.

- Nice combination of peat, definitely Islay but unique in itself

- Cozy comfy and smoke sets in and lingers
Great blended whisky, takes out the heavy peat and of a couple of Islay whisky and transforms it to a truly affordable and enjoyable dram
